Here at Brand-It Strategies, we’re all about effective planning and execution. Because let’s face it: that’s all a strategy is! Having all the lofty business goals in the world won’t get you very far without implementing the strategy to see those goals come to fruition.
Creating the ultimate social media strategy is paramount because it gives your content direction and purpose. That way, you won’t post for the sake of posting rather than to generate sales, increase engagement, etc.!
We want to see you WIN on social media, so we’re here to help!
Start by getting crystal clear on your company’s goals, making sure you understand your ideal consumer, and determine how to get noticed on social media by using relevant hashtags. Here’s how to get started:
- Use the S-M-A-R-T Method.
We use the S-M-A-R-T method (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) for goal-setting because it is proven to help create goals that make sense. By following this method, you can identify the goals in your business that will generate sales and increase income. Try to identify at least 3-5 goals you want to achieve within the next three months.
- Outline the objective and the accompanying approach.
Once you’ve determined your objectives (goals), you should also identify the approach you will use to accomplish them. The objective is the what; the approach is the how. For example, one of our clients desires the outcome of increased content virality (what). Posting reels three times a week on Instagram is how we plan to achieve it because reels can be circulated rapidly to reshared feeds for higher engagement and views.
- Identify your company’s top selling points.
It’s important to have 3-4 top selling points (also known as unique selling propositions or USPs) that you want to push consistently in your business. This builds familiarity with your audience so they know what to expect from you, which will keep them coming back for more! Remember to be specific – niching down broadens your reach and enables you to target your dream clients. For example, Canva, a popular online design and publishing platform, promotes this selling point: “Empowering the world to design.” In five simple words, this tagline embodies Canva’s objective to place the ability to design in the hands of the everyday consumer.
- Outline your target buyer’s life cycle.
There’s stages to the buyer’s journey, and the decision to purchase doesn’t happen on a whim. It’s beneficial to map out your potential clients’ journey to purchasing from and/or working with you. You can do this by identifying each stage of the journey, typically beginning with awareness, and the proposed content type specific to each stage.
- Determine 5-10 relevant brand hashtags.
Coming up with a few hashtags to associate with your business makes your content easily identifiable, searchable and accessible to potential clients should they want to search for examples of your work. You should have some hashtags that are specific to your business and others that are specific to your field of genius.
Once you’ve achieved these five things, you’re ready to:
- Outline your content and objectives.
Create a table listing the type of content you want to post on your social media on one side (images, carousel graphics, info reels, etc.) and the direct objective on the other side (increase engagement, improve SEO, establish trustworthiness, etc.). Remember: the value of knowing the desired outcome connected to what you post is essential.
- Create a weekly posting schedule.
Now that you know what you’re posting, create another table to outline when: decide what you’re posting each day of the week. Keeping the type of content consistent with the day of the week can simplify content creation. For example, “Wisdom Wednesdays” can be delegated for sharing tips and advice.
- Create a monthly content calendar.
Preparation prevents procrastination, so taking things a step further by planning your content out for the month will save you valuable time and allow you the opportunity to batch create content and prepare for a lucrative month of business!
As you can see, crafting AND executing the ultimate social media strategy requires a significant amount of time and effort. If you’re ready to stop DIY’ing your way through these social media streets, our team here at Brand-It Strategies is ready to assist!
